What is a Tummy Tuck?

Understanding your motivations and expectations is at the heart of our practice. Knowing what it is you want to achieve with a tummy tuck, and the results of this procedure will fit with your lifestyle, now and in the future, are essential to how we and when we perform your procedure.

Combined with exercise and weight control, the tummy tuck Dr. Ridgway performs for you should have lasting results, giving you a trimmer, slimmer abdominal profile. By strategically targeting excess fat and skin, and in some cases restoring weakened or separated muscles, Dr. Ridgway create a shape that counters the natural effects aging, heredity, pregnancy and significant weight fluctuations may have had upon your abdomen.

What it won't do:

A tummy tuck is not a substitute for weight loss or an appropriate exercise program. Although the results of your tummy tuck are technically permanent, the positive outcome can be greatly diminished by significant fluctuations in your weight. We would recommend you postpone having this procedure performed if you  are planning substantial weight loss or may be considering a future pregnancy. Also, a tummy tuck cannot correct stretch marks, although Dr. Ridgway may be able to remove or improve these if they are located on the areas where excess skin will be excised.
